As the leader for the current season, I have the task of managing a group of 30 engineering students with the aim of producing a successful race car in time for the annual competition at Silverstone. Last year’s design was the most ambitious to date, with Formula Student is a student engineering competition held annually in the UK. Student teams from around the world design, build, test, and race a small-scale formula style racing car. The cars are judged on a number of criteria as listed below. It is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and uses the same rules as the original Formula SAE with supplementary regulations. Ambassadors of Formula Student include David Brabham, Paddy Lowe, Willem Toet, Leena Gade, Dallas The aim of Formula Student and Clear River Racing is to inspire and develop enterprising and innovative young engineers. Our best placement so far was the summer 2017 when we placed 3th out of 108 teams with a total score of 732.9 at Silverstone UK.
